Monotype Drawing and Photoshop, 2023

My portrait series is about beauty and transience. The patina that forms on the faces during the printing process reveals a beauty far removed from the smooth, perfect images of women that we see everywhere else. By showing ourselves vulnerable, a strength and beauty emerges that touches me deeply!
At the same time, beauty is only ever there for a moment, it is fleeting and then emerges anew. It is the same in my working process: the drawings are put on paper directly and spontaneously. Once the ink has dried, you can’t continue drawing, so you have to work relatively quickly. At the end of the process, the plate and the drawing on it are washed off again and all that remains is the original print, which I then color in Photoshop. A snapshot, in the most beautiful sense!
